Kathleen Zwarick Shanley has more than 25 years of C Suite level experience in stakeholder engagement, coalition building, advocacy, regulatory and insurance analysis (including American Medical Association/Specialty Society RUC activities), public relations, component relations (including American Medical Association’s House of Delegates), and committee governance/engagement. More important, while she has the hands-on experience on the technical side of these services, she has rebuilt or created financially and goal-oriented departments and divisions as small as 4 staff and as large as 34 staff, increased volunteer engagement on and revisited missions and strategies for up to 8 committees at a time, and launched numerous coalitions to advance the association’s goals.

Kathy has testified before federal agencies, presented at national associations on advocacy strategies and improving stakeholder engagement; published peer-reviewed articles;and was awarded the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator’s Special Citation Award for her role in increasing engagement and implementing a national campaign.

Serves on 4-member “C suite” team that leads 174 employees and provides direction on the organization’s operations, mission, and financial goals. Designs and executes public policy and patient & research advocacy strategies and objectives for the association’s 20,000 domestic and international members. Oversees $4.34 million budget covering four departments.

Analyzes and provides recommendations on proposed rules and sub-regulatory guidance related to health quality and safety standards for long-term care facilities.
